DCW Home Blog (post 58): Dec. 13-17 on the reel
Well, we finished up our first recording session with Pat and I have to say that it was nothing but encouraging/amazing. We spent four days sleeping, eating, and recording music. It was exhausting and beautiful. These songs that we’ve been working on for a long time to get prepared are really blossoming in the studio. Pat’s making things sound great and capturing the energy like...
DCW Home Blog (post 57): In the Belly of the Beast
Hey Friends,
Just a quick note to you from the studio. It is day three, and so far the songs sound great. We’ve been pretty well recording a song a day thus far. As I said in the last post, we’re getting to work with our friend Pat at his studio in Davenport and to wrap all our songs in his amazing analog gear. I’m not a huge audiophile by any means, but I have to say,...

Dear friend,
So our last show was in Haldern Germany. It’s a little city in northern Germany that is close to the Netherlands border. They’ve been doing a great festival there for the past 27 years. Apparently the city is almost 1,000 years old, but all the buildings were destroyed in WWII and so it looks pretty new. It was a beautiful day when we drove in and the city was quite...
DCW Tour Blog (post 55): Bruxelles
Dear friend,
So after Paris we went on to Bruxelles to play a show at one of these great condo style apartments they have. They turned the apartment into a venue called Mason de Musique. It was a wonderful space but a bit of a tough show. I had lost my voice the night before and so we had to do a revamp of our set list, cutting out all the songs where I sing really high (it turns out there...

Dear Friend,
So after La Roche sur Yon we traveled back to our surrogate European home, Paris. We spent a lovely evening playing at the flat of our dear friends Franck and Sophie, from the Sofoot/Sofilms. I really like hanging out with these people. After the show, we drank wine and spoke of many things. We almost figured out how to correct the problems of the world, but then we realized it...
DCW Tour Blog (post 53): Bordeaux, the city of...
Bonjour friend,
So after Clermont-Ferrand, we drove west to Bordeaux. We played two nights in Bordeaux, a house show and then a club show at this place called St. Ex. Both of the shows were put together by our new friend Julien who moved to Bordeaux originally because he got really into surfing. The sea is just an hour west of Bordeaux. Apparently there is a big surfing scene in that area....
DCW Tour Blog (post 52): Clermont-Ferrand
Dear Friend,
We traveled from Grenoble to Clermon-Ferrand, FR. We played a super intimate apartment show that this fellow named Gaylord set up. It was great. There were about 10 people and two really great dogs. I think a good time was had by all and hopefully the neighbors above and below were ok with a little stamping/hooting and hallering. Interesting fact: Clermont-Ferrand is surrounded...
DCW Tour Blog (post 51): Metz, city of one or...
Dear Friend,
The next place we played was Metz, FR. This place was amazing. It’s a beautiful and grand looking city. The whole city center is comprised of narrow windy streets and tannish, yellow stone and stucco buildings. We played in this venue called La Trinitaires, which is in a converted church and, I believe, monastery. The show was a part of a festival called Zikametz and it was...
DCW Tour Blog (post 50): Belfort and after
(Blowing out a Flambee)
Hello friend,
Alright, I got a little behind on the blog posts. My apologies. After Utrecht we had a couple days off and then we started our last two weeks of solid shows. First we were in Belfort, FR. We were a little uncertain about the show when we pulled up to the venue and it was a real-estate office. However, our host then explained that he works for one of the...

(Us rejoicing after the experience explained below)
Greetings Friend,
I almost forgot telling about our adventure in traveling from Manchester to Paris last week. So we woke up in Manchester and got going early so that we could Make our Ferry to head back to France. We were headed to Paris, but we didn’t have a show that night, so we thought that we would pick the option on our GPS...
DCW Tour Blog (post 48): Utrecht
Hi Friend,
We played a good show in Utrecht, NL after the Paris gig. We played with this band calledHorse Feathers who are from Portland, OR. We have some mutual friends and I listened to one of their records, but it was our first time hearing them live. They sounded great. A highlight of their set for me was their cover of a Gillian Welch song. Totally beautiful. We were all totally charmed...
DCW Tour Blog (post 47): Paris
Bonjour Friend,
We played the most amazing balcony show in Paris the other night. It overlooked a part of Paris called Montematre. Amazing! Two actors opened the night doing a piece by Bertolt Brecht. I think they did well, however I don’t speak French so I had trouble following the story. I was informed by one of the actors afterward, having confessed that I didn’t really know...
DCW Tour Blog (post 46): London
Hello Friend,
So we played a gig in London in a place called the Old Blue Last. We were a little worried about driving into the city but it really wasn’t that bad getting there. We did experience some of what seems to be an ever present struggle to find Parking in Europe. There always seem to be these strange streets that are right next to the place you would like to get to but you...
